Jazz duo tonight on the patio

SARANAC LAKE — The “jazz duo your parents warned you about” is returning to Party on the Patio tonight.

Soule Monde (Sol-Leh Mon-Day) is a special kind of funk erupting from the syncopated minds of power drummer Russ Lawton and Hammond B3 organ wizard Ray Paczkowski. A union of swagger and raw talent, the duo is cemented into a pocket where bold improvisational leaps by either player are met by a near-telepathic response from the other. Their fluid funk is crafted for the dance floor but supported by an extensive grasp of jazz improvisation.

Soule Monde members Ray Paczkowski and Russ Lawton have appeared at Bonnaroo, “Austin City Limits,” on “Saturday Night Live,” David Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Fallon, and have shared the stage with Carlos Santana, Rolling Stones, Trey Anastasio, Dave Matthews, Victor Wooten, Viperhouse and Strangefolk. Paczkowski and Lawton are both current touring members of Trey Anastasio Band.

As always, Party on the Patio is a weekly free concert series for those ages 21 and up.
