Artists’ Guild hosts annual juried show

SARANAC LAKE – The Adirondack Artists Guild will hold its 17th annual juried art competition from March 13 through April 12.

Prospectuses may be downloaded from the guild’s website, adirondackartistsguild.com, or picked up at the gallery at 52 Main St., Saranac Lake.

The show is open to all living artists 18 years of age or older. Artists may submit one or two works for a non-refundable entry fee of $25, with the submission of an optional third work for an additional $10. Check the prospectus for complete details. Work should be dropped off at the gallery on March 5, 6, or 7, between 10 and 5. Notification of the juror’s decision will be on March 10-12.

A reception will be held at the gallery on Friday, March 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. Awards will be announced at 6p.m.

This year’s juror will be David Brickman, who was an active fine art photographer for about 30 years, during which he had more than 30 solo exhibitions, including one in 2006 at OK Harris in New York, one in Prague, and two in Italy. He also had work included in more than 100 group exhibitions. His work is in the permanent collections of numerous museums, including the Albany Institute of History and Art, the George Eastman House in Rochester, and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris.

He continues to be active as an art critic on the blog Get Visual, which he created in 2008. David is a current member of the Board of Directors and a longtime member of the Exhibits Committee of Albany Center Gallery, where he occasionally curates exhibitions. He now works full time as an auditor for the Office of the New York State Comptroller.

The Adirondack Artists Guild is a cooperative retail art gallery representing a diverse group of regional artists residing and working in the Tri-Lakes region of the Adirondack Park. The gallery is located at 52 Main St, Saranac Lake, 518 891-2615.
