Voters OK AuSable Valley school budget

AuSable Valley Central School district voters have approved the district’s proposed $34,977,108 budget for the 2022-23 school year, according to unofficial results.

The budget passed 362 to 162, according to unofficial results provided by Jay town Supervisor Matt Stanley. A total of 524 ballots were cast — a slight increase from 512 last year.

The district will levy $15,193,500 in taxes from district taxpayers, which is around 2.6%, or $390,000, more than last year. The proposed levy increase is below the district’s allowable state tax cap of 2.68%.

Incumbent school board members Scott Bombard and Shannon Stanley, who ran unopposed for another term, earned 420 votes and 419 votes, respectively. Jason Fuller, who ran against Dave Whitford for a third seat on the school board, won a slot on the board with 347 votes over Whitford’s 160 votes.
