Lake Placid Film Festival announces finalists for short film program
30 shorts will screen at the festival
LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Film Festival has announced the 30 finalists selected for their 2025 “Your Shorts Are Showing” short film program. The selected short films will screen on Friday, Oct. 31 and Saturday, Nov. 1 as part of the 24th edition of the Adirondacks’ premier film festival. All of the short films showcase the diverse cinematic achievements of filmmakers around the globe and in upstate New York.
“This year’s selected films are some of the most powerful and riveting short films we’ve ever screened at the festival,” said Adirondack Film’s Director of Programming Sarah Patton.
Out of the 30 selected shorts, over half were shot in upstate New York and will be eligible for the festival’s Made Upstate Award.
“Adirondack Film and the Lake Placid Film Festival are committed to supporting film and television production in Upstate New York through our Made Upstate program,” said Adirondack Film’s Director of Communications Noah Ramer. “The fact that this year’s shorts program so heavily features Upstate filmmaking is a testament to the rapid growth of film production in our region.”
Rayne Polkowski, a central New York based filmmaker and co-director of the LPFF selected film GINGERALE, appreciates the opportunities provided by an Upstate film festival like the Lake Placid Film Festival.
“There’s truly nothing like seeing your film on the big screen surrounded by the beauty of Lake Placid,” Polkowski said. “To be able to return to the festival and be surrounded by so many talented and creative minds, it’s the greatest honor.”
