Jim Mize of Williamsville captured this photo of the night sky from Hoel Pond late Thursday night, Aug. 21, in Santa Clara, near Saranac Lake. Mize said the late night sky offered a double treat for stargazers — a black moon with clear skies and the final chance to catch the perseid meteor shower.
