Adult centers offering free Tai Chi sessions
SARANAC LAKE — A grant from the Franklin County Office for the Aging is funding free Tai Chi sessions for people ages 60 and older, held at the Saranac Lake Adult Center Mondays from 10 to 10:45 a.m. through the beginning of December and the Tupper Lake Public Library Tuesdays from 11 to 11:45 a.m. through the end of October.
Tai Chi is a Chinese martial art that practices gentle, easy, non-impact movements that help mobility, flexibility, stress relief, arthritis stiffness, chronic pain, anxiety and depression, and overall well-being. These movements can help improve balance and prevent falls.
Sessions will be led by Josy Delaney, certified TaijiFit conductor and instructor. Delaney taught Tai Chi for arthritis and fall prevention at the Malone Adult Center from 2015 through 2019, then continued teaching in her new home town of Tupper Lake starting in 2022.
