Final gallery exhibit before LPCA renovation opens Friday
LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Center for the Arts will present “Marvel: In Process,” an exhibition by Marvel Designs, the architecture firm leading the renovation of LPCA’s theatre building.
On view Aug. 15-30, this will be the final exhibit in the Gallery @ LPCA before the building undergoes its much-anticipated transformation. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m.
The public is invited to a special opening reception on Friday, Aug. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. At 5:45 p.m., Lissa So, founding partner of Marvel, will offer some remarks about the firm’s past work and the vision for LPCA’s future. Guests will have the opportunity to explore Marvel’s creative process and get an in-depth look at the exciting plans for the new LPCA renovation.
“Marvel: In Process” offers a behind-the-scenes look at how architecture and community intersect. Through an engaging display of sketches, models, and final renderings, visitors will be guided through each stage of Marvel’s design process.
With a portfolio that includes iconic spaces such as St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn, Broadway’s Lyric Theatre and TheatreSquared in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Marvel is celebrated for their ability to create cultural landmarks that reflect and uplift the communities they serve.
This exhibition is both a celebration of Marvel’s portfolio and a preview of what is to come at LPCA. Guests will be able to gain a deeper understanding of the vision behind the building’s upcoming renovation and the design principles shaping its future.
