Benefit show for Kiwanis at Rusty Nail Saturday

SARANAC LAKE — A benefit concert at the Rusty Nail on Saturday will raise money for the Saranac Lake Kiwanis Club and feature a band of musicians from Saranac Lake and from as far away as Florida.

The supergroup “Rock ‘N Roll Hit Show” kicks the music off at 6 p.m.

Organizer Trixie Capalbo said the Kiwanis do a lot of things that benefit children and people with special needs in town. Recently, she said they’ve bowled in the Special Olympics, gave away tons of bike helmets and pads and awarded tens of thousands of dollars in grants for local events and varsity sports.

The band is made of Saranac Laker Jesse Purcell on harmonica; Steve Gonzales from Poughkeepsie on drums and vocals; Mike LaFalse from Poughkeepsie on guitar, keys and vocals; Mike Minard from Florida on guitar and vocals and Chris Muller from New Hampshire on guitar, keys, bass and vocals.

Though the friends live all over, for the last two years, they have gotten back together during Winter Carnival to play a benefit show at the Rusty Nail.

Starting at $3.92/week.
