Play ADK announces summer programming

SARANAC LAKE — Play ADK announced its full slate of free programming this summer, including expanded hours at The Clubhouse in downtown Saranac Lake and activities at community events in the Tri-Lakes area.

Clubhouse programming

The Clubhouse is Play ADK’s temporary outpost located at 84 Main St. in Saranac Lake. The space is open year-round, offering infant and toddler playgroups on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon. Throughout the summer, Play ADK will offer additional Free Play hours every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Infant and Toddler playgroups offer children ages 0 to 3 a safe and fun place to socialize, develop essential skills and learn through play. Free Play hours provide kids ages 0 to 6 with unstructured playtime: a chance for them to explore and imagine without rules or goals. These programs also provide an opportunity for parents and caregivers to connect with one another and build a supportive community. Community events

Play ADK has partnered with Lake Placid Center for the Arts (LPCA) to offer the Young & Fun Experience, a free summer series for kids. These events take place at LPCA on July 9, July 23 and Aug. 9 and include playtime activities at 9:30 a.m. and a performance at 10:30 a.m. LPCA’s playground will be open for play after each performance. There is no charge for these events; seating is first come, first served. Additionally, Play ADK will bring Lego Car Derby to LPCA’s Block Party, a free family family-friendly summer celebration, on Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. You can find more info about The Young & Fun Experience and other LPCA events at lakeplacidarts.org/events-performances.

The Clubhouse will be open for Saranac Lake’s Third Thursday ArtWalks on July 17, Aug. 21 and Sept. 18 from 5 to 7:30 p.m., providing arts and crafts activities for kids.

Play ADK presents the Kids Zone at Northern Current, a free community music festival at Riverside Park in downtown Saranac Lake. This year’s festival is Sunday, Aug. 31. The Kids Zone provides activities for the youngest festival goers, including Lego Car Derby, Imagination Playground, crafts, bubbles and more.
