SARANAC LAKE — The Women’s Civic Chamber of Saranac Lake has announced the 71st annual Fourth of July Kiddie Parade, this Friday at 10 a.m.

The parade line-up will begin at 9:45 a.m. behind St. Bernard’s School, located at 63 Main St. Participants are encouraged to decorate their wagons, bikes, strollers and even themselves in alignment with this year’s theme, “Old MacDonald Had a Farm.” No registration is required to join the festivities.

The parade route will begin on Church Street, proceeding from the Presbyterian Church to Main Street, and concluding at Riverside Park. The parade will march on rain or shine, with the exception of thunder, which will result in cancellation.

Pre-parade activities will include face painting, opportunities to meet honorary mascots, Marge and Keith Murphy’s Greta the Goat and her farm friends, and last-minute decoration assistance. Winter Carnival royalty will also make a special appearance. Every child participating in the parade will receive a flag to carry.

At the parade’s conclusion in Riverside Park, a short ceremony will be held where all children will receive goodie bags provided by the Women’s Civic Chamber. Additionally, the Saranac Lake Rotary Club will be on-site offering free SnoCones.

The Women’s Civic Chamber invites families, friends and neighbors to join in celebrating the Fourth of July by lining the parade route to cheer on participants.
