Shortly after reading Kate Messner’s “The Trouble with Heroes,” Saranac Lake middle school sixth graders got to meet the author herself at Dewey Mountain on Tuesday. Messner is a New York Times bestselling author of over 70 children’s books who resides on Lake Champlain. She shared insights into her novel about a boy’s journey to healing through climbing the Adirondack High Peaks. She gave a book talk, answered student questions, signed books and even joined students for a hike to the top of Dewey.
