BETA meeting to be held on May 10

LAKE PLACID — The Barkeater Trails Alliance annual meeting will be on Saturday, May 10, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, 17 Algonquin Drive, Lake Placid. Those interested in community trails for mountain biking and skiing are welcome to join this free event. Light fare and a complimentary drink will be provided.

The meeting provides an opportunity for BETA supporters, board members, staff, volunteers and members of the public to celebrate local trails, learn about the organization’s direction and its projects and kick off the mountain bike season.

The meeting’s theme Past, Present and Future will start with a nod to the organization’s foundational goals, key players and early successes. Board President Patrick Carey will give an overview of the state of BETA’s trail systems and share highlights about the trail-building and maintenance work scheduled for this year; Executive Director Glenn Glover will share his vision for the long-term future of BETA.

After the presentations, there will be informal opportunities to share your suggestions and concerns with the BETA board and staff.

“I’m looking forward to meeting more community members in my second spring with the organization,” Glover said.

Bring your friends, bring your questions, and bring your enthusiasm for local trails.

BETA’s mission is to build, maintain and advocate for a system of community and backcountry trails for ski touring, mountain biking and other human-powered activities in the eastern High Peaks region of the Adirondack Park.
