Woodruff St. boil water order lifted
SARANAC LAKE — A boil water order for Woodruff Street between Broadway and Church Street was lifted on Friday afternoon after a village Department of Public Works crew repaired a water main break.
The order came shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday after a valve broke during a scheduled shutdown to remove another valve that morning, causing water for this area to potentially be cloudy or dirty.
DPW Superintendent Dustin Martin said Friday evening that his crew is still trying to figure out how to shut off a water main to replace the initial valve, but that “everything is in working order.”
Part of Broadway near Woodruff Street was closed Wednesday while crews worked on the situation, which included flushing the hydrant at the corner of Woodruff and Church streets. The one-way Woodruff Street was closed on Friday morning.
