Annual history museum festival slated Aug. 17
LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society will be hosting its annual festival on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the history museum.
The museum is located at 242 Station St. in the old Lake Placid Train Station. This year’s festival will feature a hot dog and hamburger barbecue by the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department, live music with Scott Sileo, crafters and vendors, games, book and bake sale, white elephant sale, silent auction and a small selection of antiques and furniture. Admission to the event is free.
The historical society is accepting donations for its annual book and white elephant sale through Aug. 15. Donations may be brought to the museum during museum hours — Wednesday to Friday, 1 to 4 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; or Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those who are donating a large number of items or large/heavy items are asked to call ahead at 518-523-1608 during museum hours to make sure someone will be available to assist. When those donating items arrive, organizers ask that they check in with museum staff before bringing in donations.
