ALCA open house, auction is Saturday

BLUE MOUNTAIN LAKE — An open house and auction is planned at the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts on Saturday, July 13 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Guests are invited to enjoy refreshments and sponsorship opportunities, plus a special presentation on 57 years of ALCA history. This presentation will feature Blue Mountain Lake photographs, documents and other articles organized by Colgate fellow Eli Watson and the volunteers of ALCA’s History Project.

The ALCA auction will begin with a sneak-peek social with wine, cheese and chocolate at 5 p.m., followed by the auction at 6 p.m.

Doug Stinson, principal auctioneer of Carl W. Stinson Auctioneers and Appraisers of Fine Art and Antiques, will lead the auction. Stinson has an extensive background in auctioneering and antique appraising in the New England area. Stinson’s accolades include an invitation by the Smithsonian to conduct the auction of Admiral Richard E. Byrd, famous polar explorer.

For those looking to donate antiques and vintage items to the auction, contact Jean-Marie Donohue at 732-996-7650. The ALCA will be open for item drop-offs today from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Only antiques and items in good condition will be accepted; no damaged artwork, broken appliances, etcetera.

The ALCA also recently announced the auction of the original, authentic town sign that hung at the border of Blue Mountain Lake for many years. This sign (48-inches wide by 32-inches high) has been autographed by its designer and original co-director of the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts, Jim Hutt, and will be included in the auction on July 13.

Starting at $19.00/week.
