Dopapod, Raisinhead to perform at the Waterhole June 21

SARANAC LAKE — Dopapod and special guests Raisinhead are teaming up for a performance at the Waterhole on Friday, June 21.

The quartet Dopapod — with Eli Winderman (keys, vocals), Rob Compa (guitar, vocals), Chuck Jones (bass), and Neal “Fro” Evans (drums) — present albums as experiences meant to be shared out of listeners’ speakers and on stage. Dopapod’s latest self-titled album ties the conceptual ends of the group’s discography, while charting a path forward.

Dopapod was formed at Berklee College of Music in 2008 as a duo with Eli Winderman and drummer Michelango Carubba. They performed in this format around New England for a year or so before adding fellow Berklee student Rob Compa on guitar. After years as a trio, they added Chuck Jones on bass — who, at the time, had another band with Winderman. In 2010, Carubba became the full-time dummer for Turkuaz and Neal Evans took over drums for Dopapod.

Their immersive, expansive vision as a group continues to conjure alchemy nearly 15 years into their journey as they continue to tour and record.

“We’re a live band … the songs are the vehicle for us to just express ourselves with the improv. That’s the main focus, to be in the present moment with each other, listening to each other, creating on the spot … we love being on the tightrope and taking chances and risks,” Winderman said.

Special guests Raisinhead have also been playing music together for nearly two decades and will be opening up the show. The band was formed by Rob Beaulieu in 2001, who wanted to play improvisational music in a live setting.

Raisinhead is a three-singer band, which gives the audience a constantly-changing vocal perspective, tune by tune. The band has built a strong following in upstate New York that promises audiences an interactive evening of sound, energy and pure fun.

Doors for this performance will open at 7:30 p.m., music will begin at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for this event can be purchased on the Waterhole website www.saranaclakewaterhole.com/tickets or in person at the bar.

Advanced price tickets are $20. Day of show ticket price will be $25.

As always, the Waterhole is a 21-plus venue.
