SARANAC LAKE — A Vermont-based vocal chamber ensemble will perform at Saranac Lake’s Lake Flower Landing at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Ampersand, in a 65-minute a cappella program called “Midwinter,” will celebrating the stark beauty of midwinter with music and poetry.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation.

Works to be featured include Renaissance polyphony by Tallis, Byrd, Lassus, and Manchicourt, music from the first half of the 20th century by Parry and Poulenc, and contemporary music by Andrew Balfour.

Ampersand’s ensemble is made up of six world-class vocalists, including members of the Grammy-nominated choir of Trinity Wall Street, the Grammy-winning new music ensemble The Crossing and Grammy-nominated Clarion Choir.

This concert marks the return of the ensemble after a several-year hiatus.
