SLIGO accepting St. Patrick’s Day Parade grand marshal nominations through Feb. 19

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Irish Gaelic Organization (SLIGO) is now accepting grand marshal nominations for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which will take place on Saturday, March 16.

Nominations should be submitted through SLIGO’s Facebook page to John Muldowney or Ray Scollin by 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19. Later this month, all the parade’s past grand marshals will meet at an undisclosed location to review nominations and select the 2024 grand marshal by consensus or, failing that, a vote.

Led by the grand marshal, SLIGO’s St. Patrick’s Day parade will step off at 1 p.m. sharp on Saturday, March 16. The parade route begins at the Saranac Lake Post Office and ends at the Harrietstown Town Hall.

Business sponsorships are the primary means through which SLIGO funds Saranac Lake’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities. Additional information can be found on the organization’s Facebook page.

Saranac Lake’s St. Patrick’s Day parade and festivities are planned by the Saranac Lake Irish Gaelic Organization (SLIGO), a group of residents dedicated to community service and the promotion and celebration of Irish and Irish-American history. Membership is open to anyone 18 years of age or older, regardless of heritage or religion.

Starting at $4.75/week.
