SARANAC LAKE — Saranac Lake Village Police and New York State Police are investigating the discovery of “an apparent male victim” found beneath the Pine Street bridge Wednesday afternoon.

Pine Street was closed off around 5 p.m. It remains closed from Bloomingdale Avenue to Dugway Road as police continue to investigate, according to the Saranac Lake Village Police Department. Drivers are advised to avoid the area as police continue to investigate. Police remained on the scene as of around 9 p.m.

Police said they are investigating an “apparent male victim” but had not shared further details as of Wednesday evening.

“There’s no threat to the public. An autopsy to confirm identity of the victim is scheduled for Friday in Glens Falls,” the department wrote in a social media post Wednesday.

The Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.
