SARANAC LAKE — The Women’s College Scholarship Club invites residents to join the club as Heidi Kretser, a Saranac Lake Central School District graduate, speaks at the club’s meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. in St. Luke’s Parish Hall.

Kretser is the director of rights and communities for the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Global Conservation Program, the lead of the Social Safeguards Management Team, and serves as an adjunct associate professor at Cornell University’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment. Her talk at St. Luke’s will be titled “How I Learned Everything I Need to Know for my Global Conservation Work From the Adirondacks.”

She completed her Ph.D at Cornell and holds a Master’s degree from the Yale School of Forestry.

Kretser has traveled the world helping countries improve their conservation of wildlife and wildlands by incorporating tools and perspectives from the social sciences into applied conservation research.

“We are honored to have Heidi tell of her works and travels and we hope you will join,” the club wrote in a news release.

Refreshments will be served.
