Snow storm hits Tri-Lakes

Walter Wilson snowblows at Colden Lodge after a large dumping of snow on Monday, which caused intermittent power outages in some areas. He had started clearing the snow around two and a half hours earlier and still had a long way to go, creating paths to the two short-term rental cabins at the property and parking spaces for nine total parking spots, which were added for the four total STRs at the property in Saranac Lake. “We’re doing what we should do, so we’ve got all this extra parking this year,” Wilson said. Best Western General Manager Michelle Hill shovels the sidewalk outside the hotel after a snow storm on Monday. She started at 7 a.m. and was still at work after noon. The plow came earlier, but the lot was full of National Grid trucks as crews stayed in town to fix power outages around the Tri-Lakes after the wet and heavy dumping of snow. Hill said the National Grid crews usually stay at her hotel when they’re in town. She said they open breakfast early at 4 a.m. for the electrical workers, to get them fed before they head out into the woods to fix downed lines. (Enterprise photo — Aaron Marbone)
