SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department and the village of Saranac Lake announced Monday that the 10th annual Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Truck Parade and Tree Lighting will return Friday, Dec. 1 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The event kicks off with the fire truck parade, where area fire departments will gather as one in the spirit of unity and collaboration. The parade route will take fire trucks from Broadway to Main Street with a very special guest — Santa Claus.

Following the parade, the festivities continue with a tree lighting in Berkeley Green ceremony from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Santa will take center stage, lighting the tree in Berkeley Green, while everyone is invited to join in a festive holiday sing-along with Northern Lights Choir. Warm cookies and hot cocoa will be available next to the bonfire.

Kids will have an opportunity to visit Santa from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Saranac Lake Free Library. Children are welcome to share their wish-lists with Santa and capture the moment with a photo.

At 7:30 p.m., the tree will be lit in Riverside Park. A 40-foot tree donated by Moody Tree Farm will be illuminated.

This event is made possible by the support and collaboration of several valued organizations, including the Women’s Civic Chamber, the Saranac Lake Free Library, Adirondack Health, and the Northern Lights Choir.

Area fire departments, businesses and organizations interested in entering a vehicle into the parade are welcome. RSVP to Santa Parade Chair Douglas Peck at 518-891-2414 or westfirefighter17@hotmail.com.
