Safety first

New York State Police technical Sergeant Brian Goetz and Paula McGreevy, an RN at Adirondack Medical Center, inspect a car seat for an expiration date on Wednesday. “This is a game we like to play,” Goetz said. McGreevy said it’s called “‘Find the information.’” Different manufacturers hide the expiration dates on different parts of seats. Both of them are certified nationally to be car seat technicians. Together, they hold child safety seat checks at the State Police Troop B Headquarters in Ray Brook on every second Wednesday of the month. Sometimes the events are packed. Sometimes, like on Wednesday, they’re slow. The fact that car seats have an expiration is one of the many safety facts they have. For more information on the next event or to set up a car seat appointment Goetz said to contact btraffic@troopers.ny.gov (Enterprise photo — Aaron Marbone)
