BLOOMINGDALE — The Bloomingdale Block Party returns this Saturday with more than 40 different vendors and activities.

There are a variety of new things to do on the schedule this year. Joe Ferris, a local artist, will be on hand to quick-draw caricatures of attendees from noon to 5 p.m. The Skeleton Crew Stilt Walkers are set to appear between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. There will be airbrush tattoo and face painters from 2 to 5 p.m., plus new “walking balloons” for kids on sale, according to Youth Task Force President and St. Armand town Supervisor Davina Winemiller.

Cornhole tournaments will kick off the festivities. Registration starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 10:45, according to organizers. Those interested in competing can also register in advance by calling 518-637-9185. The cost is $40 per team and there will be cash prizes in all divisions.

There will be carnival games and food available from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The St. Armand Veterans Memorial Task Force will have a balloon dart game with prizes, there will be a dunking booth and roll the dice game, and Scott Eichholz of Loon Works will create balloon art for kids. The Elks Club will be serving grilled chicken, and the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department will cook hotdogs, hamburgers and french fries. There will be a beer tent and pull tabs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Live music kicks off at 3:45 p.m. with a set from Tyler Lemieux. The Moonlighters take the stage at 4:30 p.m., followed by John Geno and the Mustangs at 6 p.m.

Every 30 minutes, there will be new characters walking around the Block Party giving out free prizes to all of the kids, according to Winemiller — including Spider-Man, Thor, the Mandalorian, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Peter Rabbit, Batman and Batgirl.

All of the activities are taking place at the Bloomingdale Youth Field behind the fire department at 15 Roosevelt Lane.

The St. Armand Youth Task Force is again hosting the event. The money raised helps the group support youth programs and update recreational facilities for children around town. The task force recently donated $10,000 to town of St. Armand toward new playground equipment upgrades, Winemiller said. The town installed a pirate ship at the playground last week, has built two new pickleball courts and a new basketball court, and plans to build more playground features in the future.

Winemiller said they expect large crowds at the Block Party this year.

“It’s really all about community,” she said. “It’s all about everybody coming together to have hometown fun in a family-friendly environment, with fun stuff for the kids and fun stuff for the adults.”
