SARANAC LAKE — The Adirondack Plein Air Festival will take place on Aug. 14 to 19, bringing artists from around the country. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the Adirondacks through the eyes of these talented painters and have an opportunity to take those memories home with them through their paintings.

The festival kicks off with a free “Meet the Artists” reception on Monday night, Aug. 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hotel Saranac, 100 Main St., a partner and sponsor of that event. The completed artworks will be presented for sale beginning Friday, Aug. 18 during the Friday Night Special Preview Party scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m., and at the Show & Sale on Saturday, Aug. 19 from noon to 5 p.m. in the Harrietstown Town Hall, 39 Main St. The Show & Sale is free and open to the public. Tickets for the Friday Night Special Preview Party cost $20 each and may be purchased at the door or online at SaranacLakeArtWorks.org/plein-air.

“Our Plein Air Festival continues to grow more popular each year, even considering the challenges that COVID-19 presented in 2020 and 2021,” Sandra Hildreth, president of Saranac Lake ArtWorks, said in a news release. “We are so excited for this event that brings artists and visitors to our region from around the country.”

Board member and Plein Air Festival competitor Ann Haskell observed, “Our success is a result of the hard work and dedication of nearly 100 ArtWorks members, and the overall support of our local art and business community.”

Hildreth, who is also a competitor this year, went on to say, “This event means more than just bringing visitors in for the day. The week-long festival gives them a reason to stay.”

The list of competing artists is as follows: Thomas Adkins, Semra Aytur, Richard Bazelow, Elizabeth Beecher, Patricia Bellerose, Nancy Brossard, Lisa Burger Lentz, Michael Comptonm, Cathy Copeland, Anne Diggory, Freeman Dodsworth, Vera Doumanoff, Vlad Duchev, Eric Fasking, Holly Friesen, Stephan Giannini, Elissa Gore, Ann Haskell, Sandra Hildreth, Hai-Ou Hou, Jim Laurino, Diane Leifheit, Melanie Levitt, Carlton Manzano, Maria Marino, Anik McGrory, Dylan McKnight, Patrick McPhee, Mo Myra, Chrissy Pahucki, Tatyana Robberts, Robin Roberts, Kari Ganoung Ruiz, Jerry Russell, Jennifer Sampson, Kathryn Shaffer, George Van Hook, Dennon Walantus, Susanna White and Susan Whiteman.
