Saranac Lake sixth graders learn about prosthetics tech

Shawn Rohe, a below-the-knee amputee, and Greg Popp, from Mountain Orthotic and Prosthetic Services of Lake Placid, recently spoke to the Saranac Lake Middle School sixth grade science classes about prosthetics, their design, the rapid development of the technology and how Rohe’s personal experience with a prosthetic has improved his quality of life. Both men volunteered to come in to speak; their sons are members of the sixth grade class. (Provided photo — Saranac Lake Central School District)
