Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce seeks nominations for business, employee awards

SARANAC LAKE — In planning for its Annual Dinner, the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is requesting nominations for the 2023 Business of the Year and a new Employee Excellence Award. Nominations will be accepted until Friday, May 12.

The Business of the Year award will go to a chamber member that has shown significant contribution to the business community through business expansion, initiative or overall success. Recent past recipients of the Business of the Year award include The Waterhole Music Lounge, Wilkins Insurance Agency, Adirondack Health, Trudeau Institute and Nori’s Village Market.

The Employee Excellence Award is a new award established to honor an employee of a chamber member business that exemplifies great leadership, customer service, loyalty and initiative.

“This is our opportunity to highlight people who are doing some of the hard work for our businesses whether they are on the front lines of the business or behind the scenes,” Rachel Karp, the chamber’s executive director, said in a news release.

Nominations should include a brief description about the business or employee and can be submitted by mail to Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, 39 Main St., Suite 2, Saranac Lake, NY 12983, or by email to director@slareachamber.org.

The award recipients will be chosen by the chamber board of directors and announced at the “Night on the Red Carpet” Annual Dinner and Celebration on June 8 at the Hotel Saranac. Tickets cost $75 each and include a plated dinner, live music, awards and silent auction starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the Saranac Lake Welcome Center at the Harrietstown Town Hall, 39 Main St., over the phone at 518-891-1990 or online at slareachamber.org/events.
