Free writing workshop scheduled for Dec. 2

SARANAC LAKE — The Adirondack Center for Writing is expanding its First Friday offerings on Friday, Dec. 2 to include a free, drop-in workshop on the subject of submitting creative writing for publication to magazines, websites and other publications.

Led by writer Lauren McGovern, “SOS: Where Can I Publish This?” will take place at 5:30 p.m. during Friday Night Writes, ACW’s monthly “writing happy hour,” which runs from 3-7 p.m. at 15 Broadway in Saranac Lake, and is free to attend. Pre-registration is encouraged.

“SOS: Where Can I Publish This?” will be a casual and collaborative discussion to help writers share resources and find prospective homes for their work. It is perfect for anyone interested in learning about how to publish their poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, or journalism, according to the ACW.

McGovern, a longtime freelancer with an emphasis on reviews and profiles, transitioned to creative nonfiction and hybrid work in recent years. That pivot required a different set of skills and research. Attendees will hear what she’s learned, where she’s published and her advice for finding success in the wide publishing world.

The Adirondack Center for Writing has been serving communities throughout the entire Adirondack Park for over 20 years. For more info about ACW and our latest programs, visit www.adirondackcenterforwriting.org.
