Plein abstraction

Dan Nichols, of Connecticut, paints the Broadway streetscape on Tuesday, the second day of the week-long 14th Adirondack Plein Air Festival. Nichols was working on an abstract background for his work, with vivid colors and sharp lines. He said his work this week won’t appear in the show on Saturday. He did not bring frames for his paintings, which are required. So to see what Nichols produces this week, people will have to see it in person, as it is created. (Enterprise photo — Aaron Cerbone)
