And the winner is …? Gala Parade results are in

SARANAC LAKE — The winning floats and walking groups from Saturday’s Winter Carnival Gala Parade have been announced.

In the business group, Pendragon Theater won for its Dirty Dancing float and the Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games won for its walking group that featured 2023 World University Games Mascot Adirondack Mac.

In the civic and volunteer group, the Winter Carnival Committee won for its Olympic float — it was the only group in this category with a float — and the Oriental Shriners won for its walking group.

In the youth group, Scout Troop 824 won for its walking group clad in orange hats.

In the school group, the Paul Smith’s College Woodsmen’s Team won for its “Kiss My Axe” float and St. Bernard’s School won for its walking group.

In the independent group, the WrestleManiacs won for their wrestling float, and Soma Beats and Bucket Ruckus won for their rhythmic, dancing walk.

In the animal group, the Kids 4H Club won for their goat-filled float.

The Trudeau Award for best overall float went to the WrestleManiacs.

The judges were Marilyn Bigelow, Heather Rudisell, Kathy Merritt, Barbara Martin and Liz Murray.
