SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake varsity football game against Plattsburgh High School has been postponed because a player on the Saranac Lake football team tested positive for COVID-19. The Champlain Valley Athletic Conference matchup was scheduled for Saturday.

The postponement was confirmed by Red Storm head coach Eric Bennett on Thursday.

The game has not been officially canceled yet, and it is unclear when the game will be made up. If the game is canceled, the Red Storm’s next opponent will be at home next Saturday against Peru Central.

Saranac Lake is the second team in the CVAC this year to cancel or postpone a football game due to a positive COVID-19 case. The first was Peru on Sept. 22.

The Tupper Lake varsity football team, which is not in the CVAC, also had a few games cancelled because of COVID cases on their team and on other schools’ teams.
