Franklin County haults bus service after COVID case found

MALONE — Franklin County public transportation services have temporarily ceased while employees are tested and cleared of COVID-19, following a positive case of the virus from an employee.

The employee is not a driver for the county’s transportation service, according to Franklin County Manager Donna Kissane.

Kissane said Franklin County Public Health is currently working to test and clear the service’s employees.

“We are in the process of testing and clearing employees while working closely with Franklin County Public Health due to one COVID-19 positive person in our PT operations,” Kissane said, in an email.

According to Kissane, though the employee is not a driver, the transportation service’s operations will be temporarily restricted.

“This person is not a driver but as a result, restricts our operations,” Kissane said, in an email.

The county’s transportation route to Clinton County is currently still up and running, according to Kissane.

“At the present time, we are operating with established routes for our ridership to and from Plattsburgh for employment purposes,” Kissane said, in an email.
