Saranac Lake school district offers free meals for kids in summer

SARANAC LAKE — This summer, children in the Saranac Lake Central School District can enjoy lunch and breakfast at no charge through the Summer Food Service Program, a federally funded nutrition program open to all kids aged 1 to 18 years.

No applications are necessary to drop in, and all children and teens are welcome. Lunch will be offered in Saranac Lake and Vermontville, and breakfast will be offered in Saranac Lake.

The Summer Food Service Program makes sure all children can eat healthy food during the summer months when they cannot eat at school.

Breakfast and lunch will be available at Petrova Elementary School for all students attending the Camp Ampersand day program as well as any child between the age of 1 and 18. This will run from June 28 to Aug. 20 — breakfast from 8 to 8:30 a.m., lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Lunch will also be available at Kate Mountain Park in Vermontville for children registered in the day program and any child between the age of 1 and 18. This will run from July 6 to Aug. 13 from noon to 12:30 p.m.
