Meeting next week on North Elba business grants

LAKE PLACID — The Essex County Industrial Development Agency will host a public meeting on its emergency business grant program in Lake Placid next week.

The town of North Elba awarded $225,000 to the Essex County IDA last month to fund a new emergency business grant program. The IDA was one of 17 organizations to receive money from the town’s new Local Enhancement and Advancement Fund (LEAF), which is funded by occupancy tax revenue generated from every hotel, motel, hostel, short-term rental and bed-and-breakfast stay.

“We are very grateful to the town of North Elba and the LEAF committee for awarding the IDA with this grant,” said Essex County IDA Co-Director Carol Calabrese. “We will continue to work with the Lake Placid Business Association to implement the grant program. We will also be partnering with the SUNY Canton Small Business Development Center at Clinton Community College, which will be able to assist businesses with the grant application.”

The public meeting on this program is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18 at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts. People can also attend virtually at https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/585613509 or by calling 646-749-3112, access code 585-613-509.

Grant applications for the program will be available the next day at essexcountyida.com and on the LPBA Facebook page. Only businesses that are physically located in the town of North Elba will be eligible.
