Saranac Lake fire department reelects Keough as chief

SARANAC LAKE — Members of the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department reelected Brendan Keough as chief for the 12th straight year as they held their annual elections on Tuesday.

Keough was first elected chief in April 2010 and has served in that capacity ever since. No prior chief has served more than five years consecutively in the SLVFD’s 130-year history, according to its website. Keough will soon surpass Don Duso’s record of 11 total years as chief.

SLVFD members selected the following other officers for 2021-22:

¯ First assistant chief, Tim Donaldson

¯ Second assistant chief, Douglas Peck

¯ Captain, Michael Knapp

¯ Lieutenant, Dominic Fontana

¯ Lieutenant, Daryl Brier

¯ Director, Michael Boon elected to a new two-year term.

¯ Director, Jim Stinson completing year two of a two-year term
