Hospice luminary ceremony for lost loved ones

LAKE PLACID — High Peaks Hospice will hold an outdoor Luminary Remembrance Celebration from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 15 at the North Elba Show Grounds in Lake Placid, to remember hospice patients who died in recent months.

Luminaries will represent those served by High Peaks Hospice between Aug. 15, 2020, and Mar. 31, 2021. Community members are encouraged to write a loved one’s name on a luminary to add to the display. Lanterns are free to anyone experiencing a loss, regardless of being in hospice. Organizers request that all visitors wear masks. No restroom facilities are available. RSVP to 518-891-0606.

A similar event will take place Friday, April 30 in Port Henry.

(Correction: The dates of the luminary events in Lake Placid and Port Henry were reversed in an earlier version of this article, due to an error in High Peaks Hospice’s press release.)
