Enterprise co-hosts Lake Placid candidate forums Sunday

Sample ballot for Lake Placid village election Tuesday, March 16

LAKE PLACID — With village election day coming up on Tuesday, March 16, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise and Lake Placid News will host virtual forums for Lake Placid candidates Sunday evening.

The mayoral candidates, Art Devlin and Jamie Rogers, will begin their forum at 6 p.m. The trustee candidates — Marc Galvin, Colin Hayes, Jackie Kelly, Scott Monroe — will begin their forum at 7:30 p.m.

Both forums will be livestreamed and archived on the Lake Placid News Facebook page. Earlier plans to do the same on YouTube have been dropped.

Enterprise Managing Editor Peter Crowley and News Editor Andy Flynn will host the forums.

The Saranac Lake village election is also on March 16, but no forum will be held because there is only one candidate for one seat. Kelly Brunette will complete an unfinished term on the Board of Trustees.

In Lake Placid, the other open position is for village justice, currently held by David Coursen, who is running for reelection on the Justice Party line. No one else is running.

In the Lake Placid trustee race, incumbent Monroe is seeking a third term on the Common Sense Party against political newcomers Hayes, A New Vision Party; Galvin, Teamwork Party; and Kelly, Teamwork Party. One seat is being vacated by Devlin, who has reached his three-term limit this year.

All the positions have four-year terms.
