‘Scenes from a Book’ at LPCA this month

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Center for the Arts has announced the latest exhibit in the Gallery @ LPCA, located on the main campus at 17 Algonquin Drive.

“Scenes from a Book: The Mind’s Eye” began Thursday and will run through Saturday, Feb. 27. In-person gallery hours will be Wednesday through Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. The exhibit can also be viewed online by visiting www.lakeplacidarts.org/gallery/upcoming-shows/scenes-book-minds-eye.

Through “Scenes from a Book,” LPCA celebrates the power of words with a juried show focused on the intersection of art and literature. Featured works may be inspired by literature in any number of ways, whether based upon an author’s description of a place, an interpretation of a scene from a novel or simply an artist’s response to a work.

To ensure the health and safety of all visitors, the gallery will continue to follow all New York State Department of Health guidelines. A limited number of visitors will be admitted during open hours, masks will be required, and special daily cleaning and sanitization protocols are in place.

The jurors for the show were Nathalie Costa Thill, executive director of the Adirondack Center for Writing based in Saranac Lake, and Sarah Galvin, co-owner of The Bookstore Plus in Lake Placid.
