Franklin County maintains COVID-19 numbers in mid-100s

Franklin County saw a consistent rise in COVID-19 cases over the weekend, as well as a consistent exodus of positive individuals recovering from the virus.

The county’s health department reported 25 new cases Saturday and 22 on Sunday, bringing the current total number of positive cases to 158. Currently there are 543 people in quarantine and isolation in the county, meaning people who have tested positive or been identified as a “contact” for a positive person.

Twelve people were reported as having recovered from the virus Saturday and 14 on Sunday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 906. In Franklin County eight people have died of COVID-19-related complications.

The average percentage of positive test results reported Saturday was 5.07%. As of Saturday the seven-day rolling average of positive tests was 4.85%.

Since the start of the pandemic Franklin County has identified 1,072 positive cases.

Franklin County reported 16 positive inmates at Bare Hill Correctional in Malone on Sunday, two more than on Saturday. The state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision has not updated its data since Friday.

Franklin County reported that the Franklin and Upstate correctional facilities had one inmate testing positive each on Sunday.

Essex County does not report COVID-19 cases over the weekend, but on Thursday Essex County Public Health reported 79 new cases of COVID-19 at the Federal Correctional Institute at Ray Brook, the most ever.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons reported eight staff at FCI Ray Brook were positive on Sunday.
