Long Lake Comprehensive Plan public presentation next week

LONG LAKE — Members of the communities of Long Lake and Raquette Lake are invited to attend the Town of Long Lake Comprehensive Plan public presentation on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. The virtual meeting will be held on the Zoom platform.

This comprehensive plan is funded in part through an Empire State Development grant awarded to the town of Long Lake in 2019 through the North Country Regional Economic Development Council. After a year of work, the town is ready to begin the final steps of adopting the plan. The final draft of the plan can be viewed at mylonglake.com/comprehensiveplan.

Details on how to attend the public presentation will also be available there.

This virtual meeting will be an opportunity for the members the general public to get an overview of the plan, how it was prepared, what it contains and how it can be used. The Chazen Companies will be able to answer questions from residents about the plan at this virtual meeting.

The Long Lake Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee started meeting in the summer of 2019. This has been a community driven effort and the plan will articulate residents’ vision for the future and serve and as the town’s official policy document. The committee worked closely with the Chazen Companies to develop a document to guide and inform decision-making, policies and plans for Long Lake and Raquette Lake for future generations.

As this official process to adopt this plan begins, the Long Lake Town Board will take the lead in the adoption of the plan with more information and meeting dates to be announced.
