State Assemblyman Billy Jones called for Gov. Andrew Cuomo to reevaluate guidance restricting hair care in nursing homes.

The Democrat from Chateaugay Lake said he is encouraged that nursing homes can more easily allow visitation now but said the restriction of hair care services is “a gaping hole in services being provided.” In a press release he called hair care “a basic and fundamental personal hygiene routine.”

“We cannot ignore the sacrifices that nursing home residents and their loved ones have made throughout this pandemic, and we owe it to these residents to allow them to have access to hygienic care,” he said.
