Food giveaway at Whiteface Lodge

LAKE PLACID — The Whiteface Lodge will host a community food donation day on Thursday as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farms to Families Program.

Whiteface Lodge and Urgo Hotels are partnering with the USDA program, which has been bringing fresh dairy, produce, meat and dried food to local families in need — and preventing local farm products from going to waste. Anyone is eligible for the boxes, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cars can drive up to the Whiteface Lodge at 7 Whiteface Inn Lane, Lake Placid, and can request up to three food boxes. Each box contains dairy products, potatoes and other vegetables, meat and dried goods.

Whiteface Lodge hopes to continue the food drive on a regular basis through the winter season.

The food drive will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until the boxes are gone. Updates will be posted to the lodge’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/whitefacelodge.
