KEESEVILLE — Once again on Wednesday, state troopers dressed as construction workers and stopped drivers for violating laws on Interstate 87 near Keeseville.

The initiative is called “Operation Hardhat,” and the New York State Police Troop B conducted it in August and July as well.

A total of 32 tickets were issued Wednesday: 12 for speeding, two for not wearing seatbelts and 18 for other violations, police said.

Operation Hardhat troopers issued 57 tickets over two days in late August, 26 on July 21 and 14 on July 16, all near the same work zone.

The state Department of Transportation has been doing construction at that site for months to rehabilitate the Augur Lake Road bridge over the Adirondack Northway, as I-87 is called north of Albany.
