LPCA gallery reopens this week

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Center for the Arts announced Monday it will reopen Gallery @ LPCA, located at the art center’s main campus at 17 Algonquin Drive.

The reopening will coincide with the unveiling of this year’s annual Open Juried Art Show on Thursday. More than 70 works in a wide array of media will be on display from a special opening event on Thursday through Nov. 14. Regular gallery hours will be Wednesday through Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m., beginning this Friday.

To ensure the health and safety of all visitors, the gallery will be following all New York State Department of Health guidelines. A limited number of visitors will be admitted during open hours, masks will be required and special daily cleaning and sanitization protocols will be in place.

The public is also invited to take part in two special events surrounding the opening of the gallery and the exhibit:

¯ On Wednesday at 7 p.m. the LPCA will share a special Award Broadcast on Facebook (www.facebook.com/lakeplacidarts) to preview the Open Juried Art Show. Viewers will hear about the exhibit from LPCA Executive Director James Lemons, jurors Anya Villeneuve and Diane Reynolds, and several of the featured artists. Exhibition prize winners will also be announced.

¯ On Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., the Gallery @ LPCA will welcome art lovers for a Socially Distanced Opening. The public is invited to visit the gallery to walk through a safe and socially distanced pathway designed to guide attendees through the Open Juried Show.
