Tupper Lake interest-free property tax is extended to July
TUPPER LAKE — This village is one of 13 around the state which were issued extensions on an interest-free period for the payment of property taxes through a governor’s executive order Friday.
Village Mayor Paul Maroun said he requested this extension to allow property owners, namely business owners, the ability to pay late taxes through July without accruing extra interest or penalties during the coronavirus pandemic.
“This is an order to to help the businesses that have really been hard hit by the closure,” Maroun said.
The extension, approved by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, starts June 26 and lasts for 21 days — expiring July 17. Maroun said he will request an extension again if the state grants one.
This extension also includes the North Country villages of Lake George and Cambridge.
