National Guard promotes two Saranac Lake men
LATHAM — Two Saranac Lakers were recently promoted in the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.
Evan Olsen, assigned to the Headquarters and Service Company, 642nd Support Battalion, received a promotion to the rank of second lieutenant.
Tyler Callahan, assigned to the 1427th Transportation Company, received a promotion to the rank of private.
Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability and development potential.
The New York National Guard is the state’s executive agency responsible to the governor for managing the state’s military forces, which consist of nearly 20,000 members of the New York Army National Guard, the New York Air National Guard, the New York Naval Militia and the New York Guard.
