FULTON — The Adirondack Landowners’ Association, a leading voice for wise stewardship and sound resource management of private lands in the Adirondack Park, announced that it has retained the services of James T. Townsend as its legal advisor.
Townsend retired as general counsel for the state Adirondack Park Agency two years ago. He also served as a board member of the APA from 1999 to 2010. Since leaving state service, he has advised nonprofit groups and served small businesses as a certified mentor through the Small Business Administration’s SCORE program. Prior to his position as general counsel, Townsend practiced law at the Rochester firm of Remington, Gifford & Williams, where he concentrated in real estate and business issues.
Townsend received his bachelor’s degree in government from Trinity College and his law degree from Albany Law School.
Wilbur Rice said on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Adirondack Landowners Association that the organization “is extremely pleased to have Jim Townsend join us as legal advisor. Jim brings a wealth of experience with nonprofits and land use planning and contacts in both the Adirondacks and in New York state government. He is highly regarded and will help the association achieve its goals and benefit our membership.”
