Dog, cat photos win prizes
SARANAC LAKE — Pets were the theme of this past week’s l
ocal “Quarantination” challenge on Facebook.
Say Real Estate initiated the weekly challenges to help keep Saranac Lakers occupied and amused at home amid the COVID-19 outbreak. You can find the challenge pages by searching Facebook for “Quarantination events.” The judges are Kristina Clifford of Say Real Estate and Ruth Hagman of Say Rentals.
Each winner receives a gift certificate to a local business of his or her choice. This week’s prizes were sponsored by Riverside Pet Supply, CarCuzzi Car Care Center, and Bill and Lynda Peer.
Alissa VanNortwick won the top prize, a $100 gift certificate, for photos of Denali, her 16-week-old great Dane puppy, wearing Easter bunny ears and licking its nose.
Hope Laramee won a $50 gift certificate for a photo of Brice, a 5-year-old basset hound, sitting on a lawn chair.
Beth Devany won a $50 gift certificate (she chose for it to be for Bitters & Bones) for a photo of Marcy, an Akita, standing in the snow amid a mountainous landscape.
Sydney Schmidt chose to put a $50 gift certificate toward Riverside Pet Supply, after winning for a photo of Maddie, a 14-year-old black Lab, wearing a sombrero and holding maracas.
Mia Harrington-Darrah donated her $50 prize to the Tri-Lakes Humane Society after winning for a picture of Snowball, a 16-year-old, three-legged cat.
Siera Burke won a $50 gift certificate for a picture of Rocko, a 9-month-old mini labradoodle puppy, and Atticus, a 3-year-old boy, in a toy police car. She picked Blue Line Brewery.
Past weeks’ challenges have included Easter, wind chimes or planters, birdhouses and snowmen.
