’80s Family Fun Night at Olympic ski jumps Friday

LAKE PLACID — Continuing on with the 40th anniversary of the 1980 Olympic Winter Games, the Olympic Jumping Complex will be hosting an 80s Family Fun Night Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. This event is open to all ages and will have a variety of things to do and see.

The event will begin with a ski jumping exhibition off of the 20, 48 and 90-meter ski jumps. Along with the exhibition, there will be a chance to ride the new Skyride gondola and glass-enclosed elevator to the top of the 120-meter jump.

Other festivities will include dancing with 1980 Olympic mascot, Roni the Raccoon; contests and games such as giant Jenga, giant Twister and Connect Four, a photo booth, athlete appearances and fireworks to conclude the night, beginning at 8:45 p.m. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase throughout the night.

Admission costs $15 for adults and $9 for juniors (age 7 to 12) and seniors (65 plus). Anybody under 6 receives free admission, as well as Whiteface and Van Hoevenburg season pass holders. Admission is also included with the purchase of the Olympic Sites Passport.
