Saranac Lake Downtown Advisory Board seeks members

SARANAC LAKE — The village government is seeking candidates interested in volunteering for the Downtown Advisory Board.

The DAB has two openings; it has seven members at present and may have up to nine, according to village Community Development Director Jamie Konkoski. Members serve two-year terms.

Its purpose is to make recommendations to the village Board of Trustees regarding matters that affect downtown. The DAB follows the vision statement, “Improve economic vitality by enhancing the experience, image and lifestyle of Downtown Saranac Lake.” DAB members act as liaisons between the community and the Board of Trustees, and meet at least once a month.

“Ideal candidates will bring fresh ideas, strong community networks and diverse perspectives,” a village press release said.

A candidate must be a downtown property owner, a downtown business owner, downtown resident, downtown event representative or work at a downtown business. Candidates with experience or skills relevant to social media, marketing, promotion and fundraising are desirable as DAB is in need of members to serve on its promotion project committee.

Interested candidates should email letters of interest by Jan. 31 to comdev@saranaclakeny.gov, highlighting their background, skills and interests — especially those related to social media, promotion and fundraising. Questions should be directed to Konkoski at 518-891-4150 ext. 235 or comdev@saranaclakeny.gov.
